--Mission Accomplished --
“Mission Accomplished!!” This statement sums up the August 29th racing action for Rob Curtis and The Curtis Race Team as Rob captured the Modified feature event on Saturday and also garnered the 2009 Sharon Speedway Modified Championship. “This has been an unbelievable season” stated an emotional Curtis as he accepted the championship plaque on the front stretch. “This title is for Lou Blaney; he was instrumental in turning my racing program around. In addition his assistance and guidance have been invaluable to myself and the entire team.” “I also want to thank Bill Colton of Troyer Chassis who was able to attend this evening’s racing. Troyer builds an excellent car and we are extremely proud be part of their team.” The evening’s racing action got off to a rather good start as feature re-draw for the top ten point men found Rob pulling the third starting position. Rob maintained the third spot as the first lap was completed before dropping back into the fourth spot on the second circuit. A caution on lap four gave Rob the opportunity he needed to move forward and he did just that. Just one lap later the Ball Auto and Scrap/Greenville Gun and Supply/HRE/Troyer had battled its way into the second spot and Rob had his sights set on the race leader. The event’s second caution on lap six placed Rob on the outside of the front row and when racing resumed he once again settled in to the second position behind race leader Jim Rasey. The patient Greenville, PA driver kept within striking distance of Rasey and made his move to the top spot following the completion of lap nine. The Ball Auto and Scrap Machine led the tenth circuit and weathered four more cautions en-route to capturing the team’s first feature event of the season. “This has been an incredible season. We dedicated this season to Lou Blaney’s memory following his death in January and this win and the points title are for him. I also want to thank my crew chief Rob McElhaney and crew member Mark Cullen for their hard work throughout the season. Their dedication to this team is commendable,” stated Curtis. “I also want to thank our marketing partners Ball Auto and Scrap, Pelican Landing II and the Hawg’s Pen are new for 2009 and we greatly appreciate their support. “In addition the entire team sincerely appreciates the support we receive from all of our monetary sponsors as well as our product sponsors. We have been working with Jeff Standt at Pro Shocks this season and his knowledge and assistance are greatly appreciated. We also need to thank Bob Harris and Sabrina Brummond of K&N Performance as they featured our team on their website a few weeks ago.” Rob and the Curtis Race Team will take this weekend off as they prepare for the final Modified event at the Sharon Speedway on Saturday, September 19th. The entire Curtis Race Team would also like to thank Ball Auto and Scrap, Greenville Gun and Supply, Lias Tire, Greenville Auto Supply, Denny’s Restaurant, Pelican Landing II, the Hawg’s Pen, McCann’s Powder Coating, Open Signs, Beto’s Pizza, Intense Fabrication, the Greater East Ohio Alzheimer’s Association, Hine Racing Engines, Winner’s Circle Motorsports, Johnson Auto Body of Manheim, PA and The Body Shop (Jamestown, PA) for their continued support. --The Debut of "Brutus" --
Rob Curtis and the Curtis race Team kicked off the month of August with another fine top three finish at the Sharon Speedway on Saturday, August 1st. The past several weeks have been extremely busy for Rob, Crew Chief Rob McElhaney and Crew Member Mark Cullen has they have completed work on the second 2007 Troyer Chassis that was purchased in the spring. The Ball Auto and Scrap/Johnson Auto Body sponsored HRE powered car, which Rob has dubbed “Brutus”, sports some black and red accents on the body panels. Rob captured the second spot in his heat event and the crew began making chassis adjustments for the evening’s feature action. An “Invert 10” redraw found Rob starting in the seventh position of the 25-lap feature event. Rob, who is a “Master of Patience”, carefully worked his way to the sixth spot by lap eight and then to the third position by lap 15. Since the remainder of the event was caution free, the Ball Auto and Scrap/Greenville Gun and Supply/HRE/Troyer finished in the “Show position.” It was not the victory that Rob and the Curtis Race Team has hoped for but it was a very successful maiden voyage for the newest member of the race team’s stable. “Myself and the entire team are very pleased with the results,” said Curtis. “This was the second event for this particular car and we are extremely pleased with the results. Jeff and Carlon Hine built a terrific motor and I am certain that with a few minor chassis adjustments this car will be in Victory Lane very soon.” Rob and the Curtis Race Team will return to the Sharon Speedway this Saturday, August 8th as they continue their quest to regain the Modified Division points lead. The entire Curtis Race Team would also like to thank Ball Auto and Scrap, Greenville Gun and Supply, Lias Tire, Greenville Auto Supply, Denny’s Restaurant, Pelican Landing II, McCann’s Powder Coating, Open Signs, Beto’s Pizza, Intense Fabrication, Racing Fans Direct, the Greater East Ohio Alzheimer’s Association, Hine Racing Engines, Winner’s Circle Motorsports, Johnson Auto Body of Manheim, PA and The Body Shop (Jamestown, PA) for their continued support. --A Solid Season Continues --
Rob Curtis and the Ball Auto and Scrap/HRE/Troyer returned to racing action this Saturday, June 6th, at the Sharon Speedway. An “unlucky” number 64 pill draw placed Rob at the tail of the starting field for second heat event. The determined Greenville, PA driver managed to overcome the adversity and advance to the fourth position by the end of the eight-lap event. An “Invert Nine” redraw placed the Ball Auto and Scrap/HRE/Troyer in the 11th starting position for the 25-lap feature event. Although many of the top runners were starting ahead of him, Rob was not deterred, as patience would be the key to a good finish. The Ball Auto and Scrap/HRE/Troyer driver meticulously worked his way to the eighth position by lap three and then to the fifth spot by the completion of lap six. Misfortune struck race leader Jim Weller, Jr. and second place driver Kevin Hoffman, just as they crossed the start finish line. The resulting accident also collected Erik and Dustin Martin, Rick hall and Greg Younkin. Fortunately none of the drivers were injured. Green flag racing action resumed with Rob carefully progressing to the fourth spot on lap nine and then to the third position by the completion of lap 12. Rob challenged second place runner Jim Rasey for several laps but was unable to get around the veteran. The Ball Auto and Scrap/HRE/Troyer then settled into the third position for the balance of the 25-lap feature event. It wasn’t the stellar performance that the determined Greenville, PA wanted but it was good enough to move Rob into the points lead at the Speedway!! “I want to thank my crew chief Rob McElhaney for his hard work this evening. In addition crewmembers Mark Cullen and Darlene McElhaney were instrumental in getting the Ball Auto and Scrap Troyer into the top five. They are an asset to this team and their hard work is greatly appreciated,” stated Curtis. The Curtis Race Team’s “Laps For Lou” Campaign has already netted $66.00 for the Greater East Ohio Area Alzheimer’s Association. The team will donate $1.00 for each lap that is completed in the 2009 racing season to the chapter in the memory of Modified Great Lou Blaney. “This is just one small way that we are able to pay tribute to Lou Blaney and assist those individuals who suffer from this dreaded disease,” said Curtis. The Ball Auto and Scrap Team will return to racing action on Saturday, June 20th at the Sharon Speedway. In addition the team is putting the final touches on the second Troyer Chassis that will be in competition at the Tri-City and Lernerville Speedways in several weeks. The entire Curtis Race Team would also like to thank Ball Auto and Scrap, Greenville Gun and Supply, Lias Tire, Greenville Auto Supply, Denny’s Restaurant, Pelican Landing II, McCann’s Powder Coating, Open Signs, Beto’s Pizza, Intense Fabrication, Racing Fans Direct, the Greater East Ohio Alzheimer’s Association, Hine Racing Engines, Winner’s Circle Motorsports, Johnson Auto Body of Manheim, PA and The Body Shop (Jamestown, PA) for their continued support. --Another Season Opener in the Books --
The weather was a bit cool but Rob Curtis and the Ball Auto and Scrap/HRE/Troyer were in the midst of the hot racing action as the Sharon Speedway racing season got underway on Saturday, May 2nd. Rob drew a 62 pill for heat race action which placed the Curtis Race Team #86 in the seventh position of the third heat race. Despite not having been behind the wheel of a race car since last August, Rob brought the Ball Auto and Scrap/Hine Racing Engines/Troyer home to a third place finish. Sharon Speedway’s “Prize Wheel” redraw was an “invert 12” which placed The Curtis Race Team’s #86 in the fourth starting position for the 25 lap main event. Youngster Brad Rapp set the pace for the first nine laps before his spin turn two would allow Rob to inherit the lead. The Ball Auto and Scrap/HRE/Troyer would lead the next 15 circuits and Rob appeared to be headed to his first victory of the 2009 when he was overtaken in the final turn by fellow HRE Driver Jim Weller, Jr. Rob lost the top spot to Weller, Jr. by less than a car length at the checkered flag. The Ball Auto and Scrap/HRE/Troyer is off to an excellent start and a second place finish is definitely something to be proud of. In addition both the Ball Auto and Scrap/HRE/Troyer and the driver crossed the finish line safely and “in one piece!!” “My congratulations to Jim Weller, Jr. on a well deserved victory,” stated Curtis. “In addition I want to thank my Crew Chief, Rob McElhaney and the entire crew for their hard work here tonight and in the shop the past few weeks putting the finishing touches on this car. Our goal this season is to win the Sharon Speedway Modified Championship.” Rob and the crew will be busy preparing the Troyer Chassis for the next event at Sharon on Saturday, May 16th. In addition, work on the second 2007 Troyer Chassis will continue as the car is scheduled to make its debut Memorial Day weekend. The entire Curtis Race Team would also like to thank Ball Auto and Scrap, Greenville Gun and Supply, Lias Tire, Greenville Auto Supply, Denny’s Restaurant, Pelican Landing II, McCann’s Powder Coating, Open Signs, Beto’s Pizza, Intense Fabrication, Racing Fans Direct, the Greater East Ohio Alzheimer’s Association, Hine Racing Engines, Winner’s Circle Motorsports, Johnson Auto Body of Manheim, PA and The Body Shop (Jamestown, PA) for their continued support. Rob Curtis and the Curtis Race Team are proud to announce a unique marketing partnership with the Greater East Ohio Area Alzheimer’s Association for the 2009 racing season. The Curtis Race Team will donate $1.00 for every green flag lap that the Greenville Gun and Supply/HRE/Troyer completes in 2009 to the Greater East Ohio Area Alzheimer’s Association in memory of racing legend Lou Blaney. “Unfortunately myself and countless others in Western PA and Eastern OH witnessed the effects that Alzheimer’s had on Lou Blaney. We spoke with Lou’s widow, Kate, and with her blessing we are dedicating this season to Lou,” stated an emotional Curtis. “It is our hope that this partnership with the Greater East Ohio Area Alzheimer’s Association will increase the public’s awareness of the effects Alzheimer’s has not only on the individuals that suffer from this debilitating disease, but also on the families of the individuals that suffer from Alzheimer’s,” continued Curtis. As the population of our area continues to age, this terrible disease is becoming more widespread. -- A Screeching Halt to A Successful Season --
Rob Curtis and the Curtis Race Team definitely experienced the “Agony of Defeat” on Saturday, August 23rd, as the Ohio CAT/HRE/Troyer was destroyed in a scary accident at the beginning of the Modified Feature event at the Sharon Speedway. Rob had started in the 11 spot of the feature event and apparently was struck in the rear by a fellow competitor who had been tagged by another car as the field entered the backstretch. The accident that followed would find Rob barrel rolling down the backstretch as the rest of the field would drive under the flipping car. Miraculously none of the other drivers struck the Ohio CAT/HRE/Troyer. When the emergency workers got to the car Rob was unconscious but he awoke soon thereafter. The Ohio CAT/HRE/Troyer is destroyed but fortunately Rob will be ok. He has a lot of bumps and bruises including his left arm that was badly bruised however these minor injuries are another testament to the quality and safety that are built into the Troyer Chassis. Thank you Bill Colton and everyone at Troyer for making the safety of the driver your number one concern. At the present time the team’s plans for the remainder of the 2008 racing season are on hold. We want to be sure Rob is completely healthy before he gets behind the wheel. I will send out another release and also update the website(www.curtisracing86.com) as soon as any additional details are available. Thank you to each and everyone of you for support of the Curtis race Team in 2008. Your assistance is greatly appreciated. The entire Curtis Race Team would also like to thank Ohio CAT, Greenville Gun and Supply, Lias Tire, Greenville Auto Supply, Denny’s Restaurant, McCann’s Powder Coating, Open Signs, Beto’s Pizza, Intense Fabrication, Hine Racing Engines, Johnson’s Auto Body of Manheim, PA, Racing Fans Direct, Winner’s Circle Motorsports Marketing and The Body Shop (Jamestown, PA) for their continued support. Additional product sponsors for 2008 include K&N Performance, Auto Meter Gauges, Crow Enterprizes, Valvoline, Awesome Racewear, Intercomp, Lincoln Electric and Hyperco.
-- Bad Luck Gremlins Strike --
It was a frustrating weekend for Rob Curtis and the Curtis Race Team as “Lady Luck” was definitely not on the team’s side this past Saturday. In spite of the sunny skies the evening got off to a bad start when Rob pulled the Number 56 pill. Since there are only 66 pills in the drawing the high number placed the Ohio CAT/HRE/Troyer in the 11th and last starting spot of the first heat event. Rob meticulously worked his way through the field and was able to bring home a second place finish in the eight lap event. An “Invert 12” redraw for the feature lineup once again placed the Ohio Cat/HRE/Troyer behind many of the top competitors as Rob found himself starting in the tenth position. The pit area was a “sea of activity” as crew members Jim Moats and Brent Gursky were busy making several adjustments to the chassis for the feature event. Rob quickly moved into the eighth spot as the first lap was completed and was challenging for the fifth spot when the first caution came out on lap 13. During the caution period Rob felt a problem developing with the right front of the car and quickly came into the pit area. The crew discovered that the king pin had been broken as a result of the cushion that had developed on the track. Hasty repairs were made and the Ohio CAT/HRE/Troyer was able to rejoin the field. Since the remainder of the field had already taken the green flag Rob was one lap down however he was determined to stay on the track and gain as many points as possible to solidify his spot in the season long standings. The repairs to the right front lasted until lap 20 when the caution would wave as the Ohio CAT/HRE/Troyer had stopped in turn two and was minus the right front wheel and brake. It was a disappointing ending to the evening as Rob was towed from the track and was credited with a 17th place finish. Rob, Crew Chief Rob McElhaney and the rest of the team will get a very well deserved rest this weekend as the Big Block Modified Division has been given the evening off. There is definitely a lot of work that needs to be done to get the #86 Ohio Cat/HRE/Troyer ready for action on Saturday, August 23rd. Once again there was a threat of rain (seems like that has happened quite often on Saturday nights this season) so the Modified Autograph Session that was scheduled for intermission was cancelled. It has been rescheduled for August 23rd so be sure to stop by and say “Hello” to Rob and see the Ohio CAT/HRE/Troyer up close!! In addition Rob will have “Special treats” for all of the kids! The entire Curtis Race Team would also like to thank Ohio CAT, Greenville Gun and Supply, Lias Tire, Greenville Auto Supply, Denny’s Restaurant, McCann’s Powder Coating, Open Signs, Beto’s Pizza, Intense Fabrication, Hine Racing Engines, Johnson’s Auto Body of Manheim, PA, Racing Fans Direct, Winner’s Circle Motorsports Marketing and The Body Shop (Jamestown, PA) for their continued support. Rob Curtis and the Curtis Race Team enjoyed the ”Fruits of a Hard Fought Victory” on Saturday, July 19th as Rob once again put the Ohio CAT/HRE/Troyer in Victory Lane at the Sharon Speedway. It was Rob’s second win of the season at the Hartford, OH Oval and the victory also moved Rob into the second spot of the season long point standings. The evening started off with Rob finishing a disappointing third in heat race action and the Ohio CAT immediately went to work making several chassis adjustments to get a better setup for the feature. An “Invert 12” redraw for the 25 lap feature event placed Rob in the seventh starting spot and the Greenville, PA driver was determined to improve upon his seventh place finish in the rained out July 12th feature event that was completed earlier in the evening. Rob was able to move into the third position by lap two and just one lap later was running in the second spot determined to chase down race leader Dean Pearson. The caution flag flew on lap seven and that was just the break that the Ohio CAT/HRE/Troyer needed. On the ensuing restart Rob was able to move around Pearson and grab the lead. The event was slowed by two additional cautions but each time Rob was able to drive away from the second place competitor and fellow Troyer Chassis driver Dave Murdick to capture his second feature victory of 2008!! In the Hovis Auto and Truck Supply Victory Lane Rob was greeted by a jubilant Ohio CAT/HRE/Troyer Crew. “This victory is for Mr. Ken Taylor and everyone at Ohio CAT. Myself and everyone on The Curtis Race Team would like to thank them for their support. We are a low budget team and their assistance is greatly appreciated. In addition the entire Ohio CAT staff is terrific to work with and we look forward to seeing them at the Sharon Speedway in the near future. I would also like to thank Mr. Lester Pfaff and the staff of Greenville Auto Supply. Lester was under the weather this evening and couldn’t make it to the track so I want to dedicate this win to him.” “In addition I want to thank Fred Woodward of Lias Tire and American Racer for the great tires they put under us each week. I also need to thank Greenville Gun and Supply, Beto’s Pizza, Denny’s Restaurant, McCann’s Powder Coating, Open Signs, Intense Fabrication, Hine Racing Engines, and The Body Shop (Jamestown, PA) for their continued support. The first time we visited Victory Lane several weeks ago we did so in the Lou Blaney Tribute Car and I definitely wanted to get a win for all of the Curtis Race Team’s sponsors who graciously allowed us to redo the car as a tribute to Lou!” Crew Chief Rob McElhaney and the rest of the team will get a very well deserved rest this weekend as the World of Outlaw Late Model Series is in competition at the Sharon Speedway and the Modified Division has been given the evening off. The Curtis Race Team will be looking to make it “Two-In-A-Row” as they return to racing action at the Sharon Speedway on Saturday, August 2nd. The entire Curtis Race Team would also like to thank Ohio CAT, Greenville Gun and Supply, Lias Tire, Greenville Auto Supply, Denny’s Restaurant, McCann’s Powder Coating, Open Signs, Beto’s Pizza, Intense Fabrication, Hine Racing Engines, Johnson’s Auto Body of Manheim, PA, Racing Fans Direct, Winner’s Circle Motorsports Marketing and The Body Shop (Jamestown, PA) for their continued support. -- Victory Number One --
It was a “Story Book” ending to the “Lou Blaney Tribute” Modified as Rob Curtis captured an emotional victory at the Sharon Speedway on Saturday, June 28th. The final event in which the red and white #10 replaced the familiar white, yellow and blue #86 saw a very determined Curtis work his way from the fourth starting position to capture a hard fought victory. It was a fitting “Tribute to A Living Legend, Lou Blaney”!! “Team Crew Chief Rob McElhaney spearheaded the idea to replace the familiar OhioCAT/ HRE/ Troyer colors with the red and white Blaney paint scheme that Lou had used throughout his illustrious career. Myself and everyone on the Curtis Team wanted to do something special to honor one of the best Sprint and Modified drivers to ever get behind the wheel. Lou Blaney is my idol and his guidance and knowledge has been a tremendous asset to me,” stated Curtis. The 25 lap feature event found Rob starting in the fourth position. The first caution flew on lap six and the OhioCAT machine had worked its way to the second spot by that time. The ensuing restart would find Rob passing race leader Brad Rapp by lap seven. Rob then weathered two more cautions before collecting his first win of the 2008 season!!! In Victory Lane a teary eyed Rob then emerged to a loud cheer of approval. “Everyone on the Curtis Race Team simply wanted to put a smile on Lou’s face when we started this project; tonight I think we accomplished that goal. I also need to thank all of the firms and individuals who assisted us in making this car a reality. This victory is for Lou!!” “In addition I also need to thank Ken Taylor and everyone at OhioCAT as they came on board with the Curtis Race Team in January. We are definitely dedicated to getting OhioCAT the recognition they deserve. Their staff is terrific to work with and we look forward to seeing them at the Sharon Speedway in the near future. This is also our first victory for K&N Performance, Auto Meter Gauges, Greenville Auto Supply, Crow Enterprizes, Intercomp and Hyperco. Each of these firms has provided the Curtis Race Team with some of the highest quality products currently available and we sincerely appreciate their assistance. We also acquired two new marketing partners this week, Johnson Auto Body and Racing Fans Direct (www.racingfansdirect.com) and would like to welcome them to the Curtis Race Team,” stated Curtis. The win this weekend allowed Rob to move from fifth to third place in the season long points chase. Crew Chief Rob McElhaney and the rest of the team will spend this week preparing the OhioCAT, HRE/Troyer for the Fourth of July weekend. The Curtis Race Team will be looking to make it “Two-In- A-Row” as they return to racing action at the Sharon Speedway on Saturday, July 5th.
-- June 7th Racing Recap --
Rob Curtis and the Curtis Race Team returned to action at the Sharon Speedway on Saturday, June 7th. Thanks to Junior Pit Crew Member J.J. Moats the evening started off on a good note as J.J. drew the Number19 Pill which placed Rob in the fifth starting position of the first heat event. Unfortunately Rob was unable to get the car dialed in to his satisfaction and ended up with a rather disappointing sixth place finish in the event.
An Invert 4 redraw for the 25 lap feature event found the Ohio CAT/HRE/Troyer starting in the 11th position. Rob patiently worked his way around his fellow competitors and moved into the eighth position by lap 12. The events final caution flew on lap 14 and gave Rob one final opportunity to pass several more competitors and he did just that. The Ohio CAT Machine clawed its way into the sixth spot by lap 19. Rob battled fellow competitors Rob Kristyak and Dave Murdick for the final six circuits to bring the Ohio CAT/HRE/Troyer home in the sixth position for the second consecutive week. I need to thank my crew chief Rob McElhaney and head wrench Jim Moats for getting the Ohio CAT/HRE/Troyer dialed in for the feature. We had a left rear torsion bar that was going away in heat race action and the crew was able to make the necessary adjustments. In addition I need to Thank Jeff and Carlin Hines for their assistance each week. We continue to improve with each event and I am confident that their knowledge will enable us to put the Ohio CAT/HRE/Troyer in Victory Lane very soon, stated Curtis. The Ohio CAT Machine will be back in competition this Saturday, June 14th as the Sharon Speedway (Hartford, OH) will host another night of Fantastic Five racing action.
Rob and the Curtis Race Team are also proud to announce that the familiar White, Blue and Yellow #86 will be replaced by the Red and White paint scheme adorned with the #10 of legendary Sprint and Modified driver Lou Blaney for several races at the end of June. The car is tentatively scheduled to be on display at the Sharon Speedway on Saturday, June 21st. In addition, Rob will compete with this car in the Lou Blaney Classic on Friday, June 27th at Raceway 7, which is located in Conneaut, OH. Lou Blaney has been a good friend as well as a mentor to me throughout my career. His knowledge and assistance have enabled me to become a better driver and it is an honor for me to carry his paint scheme and number for this special event. Lou is a Living Legend and this tribute is greatly deserved, stated Curtis.
The entire Curtis Race Team would also like to thank Ohio CAT, Greenville Gun and Supply, Lias Tire, Greenville Auto Supply, Dennys Restaurant, McCanns Powder Coating, Open Signs, Betos Pizza, Intense Fabrication, Hine Racing Engines, Winners Circle Motorsports Marketing and The Body Shop (Jamestown, PA) for their continued support. Additional product sponsors for 2008 include K&N Performance, Auto Meter Gauges, Crow Enterprizes, Valvoline, Awesome Racewear, Intercomp, Lincoln Electric and Hyperco.

Rain, Rain, Go Away; The Curtis Race Team Wants to Come Out and Play!! Play in the Dirt at your local speedway that is and we need the weather to cooperate!!!
Rain and cool temperatures forced the speedways in Western PA and Eastern OH to cancel racing action on May 16th, 17th and 18th so Rob Curtis and the entire Curtis Race Team are more than ready for the upcoming Memorial Day Weekend. We were disappointed with our eighth place finish in the Sharon Speedway opener, stated Curtis. Jeff and Carlin Hines of Hine Racing Equipment reviewed the setup we used and made several adjustments. I value their input and am confident that with the changes they recommended we can improve upon last weeks finish and put the OhioCAT/HRE/Troyer at the front of the field. I also want to encourage local race fans to come out and take advantage of two terrific offers at the Sharon Speedway this Saturday, continued Curtis. Admission for residents of Ashtabula County, OH and Mercer County, PA is just $5.00 and Sharon Speedway owner Dave Blaney has lowered the Grandstand Admission to just $9.00 for all others. As the cost of fuel and other necessities continues to increase it is great to see a business owner give a little back to his patrons!!
Rob and the Curtis Race Team will also compete in the BRP/Hoosier Race Tires Modified Tour Opener at the Tri-City Speedway on Sunday, May 25th. This is the event where my bad luck began last year and I am determined to go back to the Franklin, PA oval and beat the demons that took the wind out of our sails, said the Greenville, PA driver. Fans who are unable to attend the Tri-City show can tune into all of the action at www.dirttrackchannel.com. The broadcast is free and will begin at 7:45PM.
The entire Curtis Race Team would also like to thank Ohio CAT, Greenville Gun and Supply, Lias Tire, Greenville Auto Supply, Dennys Restaurant, McCanns Powder Coating, Open Signs, Betos Pizza, Intense Fabrication, Hine Racing Engines, and The Body Shop (Jamestown, PA) for their continued support. --Rob Curtis and Curtis Race Team Kick Off 2008 Season at Sharon Speedway
Mother Nature finally brought some warm and sunny weather on a Saturday, which allowed the OhioCAT/HRE/Troyer of Rob Curtis to make its much anticipated debut at the Sharon Speedway. Rob drew a 31 pill for heat race action which placed the Curtis Race Team #86 in the third position of the second heat race. Despite not having been behind the wheel of a race car since last June, Rob brought the OhioCAT/Hine Racing Engines/Troyer home in second place.
Sharon Speedway has instituted a new redraw system for 2008. Rather than a computer generated redraw a Prize Wheel with options such as invert zero, invert two, invert four, etc. is used to determine the feature event lineup. This weeks spin of the wheel was an invert eight which placed The Curtis Race Teams #86 in the fifth position for the starting grid for the 25 lap main event.
Rob weathered several cautions and an ill handling race car to bring home an eighth place finish. It was a good way to start the 2008 season as the OhioCAT/HRE/Troyer and the driver both crossed the finish line safely and in one piece!!
With the changes that were made to the configuration of the track in the off-season Crew Chief Rob McElhaney and I knew we would have to make several setup adjustments. The inside groove of the speedway has virtually been eliminated and since that was the line I normally ran at Sharon we will make additional setup changes for next week, said Curtis.
Rob, Crew Chief Rob McElhaney and Head Wrench Jim Moats will be busy preparing the Troyer Chassis for this Saturdays racing action at the Sharon Speedway.
Additional product sponsors for 2008 include K&N Performance, Auto Meter Gauges, Crow Enterprizes, Valvoline, Awesome Racewear, Intercomp, Lincoln Electric and Hyperco.

-- Welcome to K&N Performance and Auto Meter
Rob Curtis and the Curtis Race Team would like to take this opportunity to welcome K&N Performance and Auto Meter aboard as marketing partners for the 2008 racing season. "K&N Performance and Auto Meter are two of the premier contingency sponsors in auto racing and we are certainly proud that they have chosen the Curtis Race Team to represent them on the DIRT Modified circuit in Western PA and Eastern OH," stated driver Rob Curtis. "Myself and the entire team are looking forward to working with Bob Harris, the Corporate Race Accounts Manager at K&N and Marc Erickson, the Director of Motorsports at Auto Meter as we embark on the 2008 racing season determined to be in the Winners Circle each weekend."
Punxsutawney Phil may have predicted six more weeks of winter weather but Crew Chief, Rob McElhaney, and crew member Jim Moats have been busy putting the finishing touches on the two Troyer Chassis that will be in competition duri
The schedule rotation he devised has the Modifieds in competition 11 times and we are grateful for that. With the nationwide economic downturn he could have elected to drop the division completely,’” stated Curtis. “In addition the smaller number of events at Sharon Speedway will enable our team to compete in select events at other area tracks,” continued Curtis. Don’t grieve for me, for now I’m free , I’m following the path, God has laid you see. I took His hand, when I heard him call, I turned my back , and left it all. I could not stay another day , To laugh, to love, to work, to play. Tasks left undone must stay that way, I found that peace at the close of day. If my parting has left a void, Then fill it with remembered joy. A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss, Oh yes, these things I too will miss. Be not burdened with times of sorrow, I wish you the sunshine of tomorrow. My life’s been full, I savored much, Good friends, good times, a loved one’s touch. , Perhaps my time seemed all too brief, Don’t lengthen it now with undue grief.
-- Enjoying Another Victory --
Rob Curtis and the Curtis Race Team enjoyed the ”Fruits of a Hard Fought Victory” on Saturday, July 19th as Rob once again put the Ohio CAT/HRE/Troyer in Victory Lane at the Sharon Speedway.
-- Cat Tracks From Rob Curtis and Curtis Race Team --
Rain, Rain, Go Away; The Curtis Race Team Wants to Come Out and Play!!
